Following on the keyboard theme

As a lover of my Das Keyboards, I should probably find the Mechanical Keyboard Guide interesting reading. However, I don’t. You might though! This USB Keyboard and Smartphone stand is something I don’t quite get. It feels like convergence for the sake of it, rather than for any intelligent reason. Tags: Gadgets

Want

Samsung MD230X3 and MD230X6 multi displays are a logical next step for a self confessed multiple monitor addict like me. I bet Al Gore has a load of them ordered already. Tags: Gadgets

Want

Das Keyboard Model S Ultimate Silent - Blank Keys, Soft Sound – I want blank keys except for the top numbers, because I find not having numbers a real pain when gaming. I think I’m going to need to buy two of these and swap out the numbers (my hunt for white letraset transfers has failed so far). Henge Docks – seriously cool, and useful for anyone who uses a Macbook on the move and at a desk. Neat idea, and you have to admire their bravery given they know that Steve is going to change the port layout...

Cyborg R.A.T. 7 Review

Overkill as art: Ars reviews the Cyborg R.A.T. 7 – that’s a pretty serious mouse. I’m probably the wrong person to talk to about mice, as I’m finding it rather hard to find anything to replace my Logitech MX518. Hear that Logitech? The MX518 kicks fucking ass – it doesn’t have 3948 buttons or removable weights or it’s own scriptable API or anything like that. It’s a mouse which is comfortable to use, end of story. USB powered keylogger, I mean, coffee warmer!

Your USB keyboard (or coffee cup warmer) could be harboring a Trojan keylogger... or worse! What’s interesting here is that it’s using a flaw in the USB plug-and-play spec and that it has taken so long for this to be mentioned openly.. is it wrong that it makes me want to go out and create some fun hardware devices? What’s also interesting is thinking about the potential for a next generation of virus scanners aimed at hardware which may come about in the future. Tags: Gadgets

Free Wifi for Nokia Nseries users

I wasn't really looking to upgrade my phone, but maybe this offer from Nokia is a good reason to think about it? Sure, the coverage isn't exactly amazing, but for free it's not too bad either. Tags: Nokia , Gadgets

First Techlust of 2008

Mmm, this curved Alienware 2880x900 monitor which was recently shown at CES is officially the first tech item I'm lusting after in 2008. It has a couple of downsides - 900 pixels isn't really too high, and the amount of real estate it's going to take up on your desktop is pretty insane. Still, it looks pretty damn cool to me. Das Keyboard

When I ordered the Das Keyboard, I thought it was very cool - however I was slightly worried about how easily I'd be able to use it. I touch type, but I'm not too hot on numbers, and sneak the occasional glance down to check my positioning. This is complicated by the fact that I taught myself to touch type, and although I can hit 110wpm+ most days, my technique isn't quite "proper". Well, after the first day I have to say the keyboard is a joy to type on. The key weightings make a hell of a difference, and...

K750i Calendar Synronisation, take 2

Previously, I've mentioned the lack of Notes syncing in the K750i. Well, my calendar is now "synced", although it's a very manual process. It's also very simple, and took about 2 mins. 1. From my Notes mailbox, select the view for "All Calendar Entries" and select the date range I want to export 2. Copy them to the clipboard (CTRL-C if you really need to know how to do this) 3. Open a blank Notepad window (or any other plain text editor), and paste (CTRL-V!) 4. Save the file as whatever, "stupid.vcs" works for me. 5. Open MyPhoneExplorer, go to the calendar, and...

Sony Ericcson K750i

I grabbed myself a new phone on Friday, a Sony Ericcson K750i. It's too early for a full review yet. I'm still getting used to it, and after 6-7 years of using Nokias I'm finding the texting a bit of an adjustment to make, but I'll get used to it. Interestingly enough, one of the main reasons I got this phone was the camera. The K750i comes with a 2 megapixel camera which has a lot of the features of a "regular" camera - it does panoramic shots, burst shots, has varying exposure levels, a night mode, a light, a...

Syncing with the K750i

One of the first things I did when I got my phone was to try and get all my contacts synced up. I noticed the Nokia PC Suite had sent all my contacts over to the phone instead of the SIM by default, which was fine. The Sony Ericcson software has always been pretty good about supporting Notes.. ...until now it seems. No Notes support. Ugh. Well no matter, I fire up the Sync software and I see it supports various flavours of Outlook, and the Windows Address Book. I've seriously tried to use Outlook a few times, but it never...

Jens of Sweden’s new multimedia player lets you watch your favorite movie as well as sing along to the soundtrack. Under one of the markets thinnest shells (13 mm) you'll find a remarkable width of functions. With MP3 and MP4 player, radio, stereo speakers and a crisp display you will be able to say good bye to all those lonely moments.
