So now Google has said no to old browsers when can the rest of us follow suit? Interesting discussion on Stack Exchange. I like how Google avoids the issue of retiring IE6 by just jumping straight out and not supporting IE7. Unsurprisingly most stats suggest that when it comes to Internet Explorer people are either running the latest version or they’re running IE6 due to using a stolen copy (Hello China!). IE9 RC fixed the “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage” error when running an ASP.NET application in Visual Studio – which is good, as it’s the reason I flagged the beta and decided to wait for the proper release (although really I should have known it was related to IPv6 as I’ve seen something identical a long time back with Firefox and its IPv6 support).
