NZ roads – bring on the chaos!

'Confusing' give way rules to change – this should be fun! Of course if you live in Auckland then you’re exempt from this change, because you’re exempt from all traffic laws anyway right? Tags: NZ

NZ Xbox 360 launch event

One of the things I forgot to mention was that last week I attended the Media Preview of the NZ XBox 360 launch tour. I spoke about it on the radio show on Saturday, and wrote about it on the Geekside website, but neglected to write anything here. Basically, the 360 looks very cool. Fight Night: Round 3 looks to have a lot of very cool online potential, and a lot of the other games look very stunning indeed. It's obviously going to take a while to build up a decent selection of titles, but that'll come in time - the...

Regarding Super 14 refs and scrums

So after another week of Super 14 Rugby, I'm lefting wondering what it is exactly that officials want to achieve out of scrums this year. More to the point, what they hoped to achieve out of changing the referreeing of them. If they're trying to encourage teams to learn to read a ref, and that their scrum success is all about anticipating the engage call, and that risking the early engage is the way to win, then that's cool. That's where they're going. The result is a lot of inconsistent reffing and that scrums across the competition are a mess -...

Auckland Harbour Bridge Bungy

I did the Auckland Harbour Bridge Bungy jump on Wednesday the 1st. It was my first bungy, and it was pretty interesting. It's amazing what goes through the mind when you're about to jump off a bride. What's more interesting is the flashbacks. I got them later that evening while trying to go to sleep, they were incredibly vivid, and overall the sensation was pretty full on. Apparently they're quite common for Bungy jumps and Sky dives, and are part of the reason there's a bit in the disclaimer you sign about mental health. Interesting indeed! Tags: NZ, Auckland

New NZ Launch Date for Xbox 360

New NZ Launch Date for Xbox 360 Auckland, January 27 2006 – Xbox today announced a new launch date in Australia and New Zealand for the Xbox 360™. The new launch date is 12.01am on March 23 2006. The new launch date has been set due to unprecedented global consumer demand and short-term manufacturing issues due to component shortages stemming from challenges in ramping supply. The move ensures that the markets will have an adequate supply of Xbox 360 consoles to meet demand at launch. Xbox 360 is well on its way to becoming the fastest-selling video game console in history, and...

Wooshing down the drain

Struggling telecoms company Woosh Wireless has been thrown a lifeline. It yesterday disclosed several of its high-profile shareholders had agreed to inject another $29.2 million, avoiding a cash crunch. The Warehouse founder Stephen Tindall, Wellington's wealthy Todd family, US venture capitalist Clarity, and the Arab investor Kuwait Finance House are subscribing to debt that will convert into equity. Just over $19.2 million of the cash has been received; $10 million more is due in February. Exact terms of the injection are still to be resolved. It seems Woosh has just received $29m worth of financial bailing out. This comes shortly...
