While reading about the new iMacs I noticed a rather amusing little line describing Bootcamp: Boot Camp is Apple's software that allows users to install Windows 7 on their Intel-based Mac. It’s kind of amusing and reassuring that Windows 7 is the only choice when it comes to Windows versions, and that it didn’t take too long for this to happen. Tags: Apple, Microsoft, Windows
Apple updates Boot Camp, drivers for Windows 7. These updates apparently add Windows 7 support for the Mighty Mouse, however I can’t get mine to work as yet. More testing required. However, all is forgiven because they’ve fixed the hyper sensitivity of the trackpad’s tap to click functionality which was a complete deal breaker, so I’m happy (and haven’t given up on the Mighty Mouse yet). On a side note it always makes me laugh when I have a post that combines these 2 tags: Tags: Apple, Windows
Autoruns for Windows is apparently now the Microsoft approved way of controlling what runs when your computer starts up. I guess after years of people screwing over their registries it was something which had to happen sooner or later. Tags: Microsoft, Windows

Sometimes my VPN connection loses it's tasktray icon. This is no big deal really, except when I want to disconnect. Sure, it'll timeout by itself, but there are some services which are faster without the VPN (yeah the routing isn't quite right) so it can be a real pain. I've yet to work out where the tasktray icon goes, but until that gets fixed I googled and found that you can connect and disconnect using rasdial:
rasdial entryname [username [password|*]] [/DOMAIN:domain]
rasdial [entryname] /DISCONNECT

It's an unfortunate choice of campaign wording given that the new World of Warcraft expansion was released only a couple of weeks ago. I think it's fair to say there are a lot more people who'd be interesting in WoW than in being Wowed by Vista. Including the pictured executives - they seem to be thinking "Wow, I'm bored" or "Wow, no one turned out for this thing", or maybe even "Wow the information about our crippling DRM features got out fast".
I'm sure you can all think of many more captions.. wow me, go on, I dare you.
There's been a lot of watercooler discussion around the office regarding Windows Vista. People seem to think that because you work in IT that you should leap at the chance of rendering your computer completely unusable for long periods of time all in the name of bleeding edge by upgrading, NOW! Either that, or they want your opinion on whether they should upgrade to Vista (more so if they have the word 'manager' in their title). To help explain your desicion to these people, BBSpot has come up with a handy flowchart to help make that decision - both for...

XP Won't Run on Intel MacBook, iMac
With the announcement of the first Intel based Macs yesterday, many users have rejoiced in being able to dual-boot both Mac OS X and Windows. Unfortunately, this is not the case; due to Apple's use of the extensible firmware interface (EFI) rather than BIOS, current Windows releases will not run on the systems.
