A short video showing 2 iPod touches running Quake 3 multiplayer. The thought of entire train carriages engaging in multiplayer gaming during their morning commutes shows that the human race may indeed have some hope for the *future.
* Actual hope may not exist

There's something about "iPod Mod" which sounds stupid. The iVue Crystal Case however, is not stupid. It's very cool indeed. Cases for video iPods and Nanos are expected before the end of the year.

Apparently, according to this article on slashdot iPod owners are less likely to download music using filesharing software than owners of other MP3 players.
There are a few reasons they mention for this, but here's another possible one not mentioned: Maybe they're so certain iTunes contains privacy compromising features that they decided it wasn't worth the risk? ;)Technorati tags: Apple, iPod
It's the iPod pencil! 2gb of music in a pencil! Or not, it's the new iPod nano standing next to a pencil - my bad.
Take everything you love about iPod and shrink it. Now shrink it again. With 2GB (500 songs) and 4GB (1,000 songs) models starting at $199, the pencil-thin iPod nano packs the entire iPod experience into an impossibly small design. So small, it will take your music places you never dreamed of.
[EDIT[ - I just read that the headphone jack for the nano is on the BOTTOM of the device. Whats the logic there?

A little piece of genius I just found while updating my iPod firmware. It runs off, applies the image, and then I notice a weird icon come up on the iPod. After a minute or so I get this helpful message from the updater:
Well that's just dandy. What if I happen to be at work right now and the power adapter is at home? Well I guess I'm screwed then. How hard would it have been to mention this before I start the update. So now I need to wait until I get home to use the thing again. Neato.

CNN is running an article featuring Gates' prediction that the iPod is on the way out. From the article: 'As good as Apple may be, I don't believe the success of the iPod is sustainable in the long run.' His prediction for a successor? Mobile phones-- powered by none other than Windows Mobile 5.0, of course."
Here is the article, forgive me if I don't see this happening anytime soon.

There's a new release of ml_ipod for those using Winamp with their iPods. It seems to be mostly little fixes, but the big thing is that they now have iPod Shuffle support as well. Apparently the Shuffle used a different database format than the iPods and iPod minis.

Well, I did it. I went and grabbed myself an iPod mini. The first thing you notice when unpacking the thing, is how much attention to detail there is, even in little things like the packaging. The fold out box, the neat little alcoves in the cardboard, everything. It's very nice.
Once I got it out of the box, I attached it to a laptop that already had iTunes on it to install the software which is required to initalise the iPod - it also takes your name and email address and sends it back to apple. The iPod can't be...
For those of you trying to decide whether to buy an iPod, then perhaps this comparison of the iPod vs. The Cassette might help.

I may be forced to eat my words here. Looking at the specs of the iPod mini I'm almost convinced. You really can't argue with a device weight of 105 grams - that's only a *little* bit heavier than my Nokia 8310, and that's pretty damn light.
Finally, Sonic mentioning that there's a iPod sync plugin for Winamp has pushed me over the edge. The...
