I was talking to the cafe at work the other morning to get a drink, and I saw a sign up saying "whos life will you change today" .. normally that kind of stupid motivational shit doesnt really get me in the slight bit interested, but for some reason this did. I guess its something of the sliding doors theory really, makes it kind of interesting to think of.
Everyone changes someones life every day, be it for better or for worse, in a large way or a small way, and its not something we really set out to do, or think about. I mean, you dont actively leave the house each morning and set out to change peoples lives.. but it happens.. that prick you shoulder barge as you get off the train because he was in your way, the lady you help with her pram up the stairs, the person you give your seat too on the train, the shop keeper you call a f£(*Ekin £(*££9 because it seems they have no comprehension of customer service - all of these people, you are changing their lives in some small or large way.
Makes you think a bit.. lets you sum up your net impact on the world, if you think of all the people you have a negative effect on, versus all those you have a positive effect on.. if the negative is more than the positive, then what does that say? Maybe nothing.. maybe that some people dont interact well with others, and should clearly stay at home coding from a small shed and never be exposed to other people.. but it just made me think.. I still get pissed off at people quicker than anyone I know, and tend to react in bad ways, but maybe now I sort of think about it a bit more, and add them to a list of people whos lives I changed today..
