So it's the end of day one of this conference, where we're basically manning a trade stand. By 4pm all of the other stand people are bored to hell - I've just heard a few say "Oh screw this I'm off to the pub". Fair enough too, that would have been me if it wasn't for this lovely wireless hotspot.
I have to say though, it feels weird that this is free. I could actually download 5-6gb of data over this before I'd even be getting close to incurring any charges. I've reloaded the Telecom website about 5 times and re-read the text to make sure (as the billing window still runs and updates) there's no nasty bill in the mail. As it stands I've actually been able to get a bit of work done in quiet moments here, sent a few emails, and had a couple of instant message chats - basically, I've managed to keep my sanity, yay for that!
I've said before that my connection to Xtra when I moved into the new apartment was a 'test' to see what they were like as an ISP, and I was impressed. But this Wireless stuff really is the icing on the cake - it's amazing how much better than everyone else you can be when you have an unfair monolopy, but right now I'm not complaining one little bit.
