Welcome to Merauderweb

Commandline tip of the day

Sometimes my VPN connection loses it's tasktray icon. This is no big deal really, except when I want to disconnect. Sure, it'll timeout by itself, but there are some services which are faster without the VPN (yeah the routing isn't quite right) so it can be a real pain. I've yet to work out where the tasktray icon goes, but until that gets fixed I googled and found that you can connect and disconnect using rasdial:

USAGE:
        rasdial entryname [username [password|*]] [/DOMAIN:domain]
                [/PHONE:phonenumber] [/CALLBACK:callbacknumber]
                [/PHONEBOOK:phonebookfile] [/PREFIXSUFFIX]

        rasdial [entryname] /DISCONNECT

Typing in a commandline makes me feel like a real computer user. If you don't feel the same way, then there's something wrong with you.
